Giving Tuesday was created in 2012 by the 92nd Street Y and the United Nations Foundation as a response to American commercialization and consumerism in the post-Thanksgiving season. This #givingtuesday, we’re happy to highlight some of our favorite Philadelphia-based philanthropic organizations.
Bartram’s Garden: Deck your halls with festive handmade holiday greens (available at the Garden on December 3rd) or donate to help maintain this a 45-acre National Historic Landmark on the banks of the Schuylkill River.
Congreso: Help strengthen Philly’s Latino communities through social, economic, education and health services, leadership development, and advocacy by volunteering or donating to Congreso.
Episcopal Community Services: Donate items from ECS’ Amazon wish list and help combat food insecurity in Philadelphia.
Fairmount Park Conservancy: Join the Conservancy for a fun Family Day on December 4th from 10AM – 4PM and help ensure that the thousands of experiences had and memories made in Fairmount Park continue for generations to come.
Fleisher Art Memorial: Make art accessible to everyone. Take a class, volunteer, donate, or buy original artwork from the Dear Fleisher exhibit.
HelpHOPELive: On #givingtuesday, HelpHOPELive will cover the credit card fees for ALL donations made in honor of HelpHOPELive clients. Your donations will help patients and families who are facing severe financial challenges because they need a lifesaving transplant or are living with a catastrophic injury or illness.
Jewish Federation of Philadelphia: Support the Mitzvah Food Project to addresses hunger and malnutrition by providing nutritious food and basic staples to the Philadelphia community.
Maternity Care Coalition: Help improve maternal and child health and well-being in Southeastern Pennsylvania with a gift to the Maternity Care Coalition.
Mural Arts: Check out Mural Arts’ online shop for gift certificates, hats, shirts, and books—or donate directly to the public arts organization.
Philadelphia Photo Arts Center: The Photo Arts Center is devoted to the study, practice, and appreciation of contemporary photography. Have a camera you don’t use any more? Donate it to the Center, or become a member to enjoy exclusive benefits such as discounts and gallery previews.
The Rail Park: Help close the funding gap to build Phase One of The Rail Park and become a member to continue your support.
Valley Youth House: Become part of the #CouchesDontCount campaign, which raises awareness for the disproportionate number of young people experiencing homelessness who identify as LGBTQIA.
Village of Arts and Humanities: Come to the Spaces International AIR: Exhibit Opening Party on Friday, December 9th from 6-10PM or give A Season of Art.
